Conventional Coolants

What is ‘Conventional Coolant’ technology?

Conventional (traditional) coolant was the first type of coolant technology developed and is based upon the inclusion of inorganic salts (silicates, borates and phosphates). In heavy duty applications ‘Conventional Coolant’ technology typically contains ‘nitrites and nitrates’ for wet sleeve liner protection.

Recochem ‘Conventional Coolant’ Performance Ratings

  • Standards Compliance: ALL Recochem coolant products meet and/ or exceed minimum industry standards.
  • Corrosion Protection:Rating Rating Rating Rating
  • Service Life: 2 years and/ or 240,000 km and/ or 3,000 hours.

Why was ‘Conventional Coolant’ developed?

Whilst water is an effective ‘heat transfer fluid’ it is extremely corrosive. Research confirmed an ‘anti-corrosive inhibitor’ package which offered total engine protection for the wider spectrum of coolants was required.

Typical Users

Marine, mining, farming equipment, on/ off road heavy duty vehicles, passenger vehicles, 4WD’s and light duty commercial vehicles.

Why use ‘Conventional Coolant’ technology?

  • Does not require an initial charge of SCA (supplemental coolant additive).
  • Strong performance when used correctly – a good work horse formulation.
  • Meets OEM engine coolant performance specifications.
