Iso-Butanol

Iso-Butanol (Iso-Butyl Alcohol), also known as 2-Methyl-1-Propanol is a colourless, flammable, organic compound with a characteristic sweet, musty smell that is used as a raw material in agchem formulations.

Features:

  • Medium volatility.
  • Miscible with organic solvents such as glycols, ketones, alcohols, aldehydes, ethers and aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons.
  • Limited miscibility with water.
  • Hydroxyl functionality.
  • Applications include use in floor polish formulations, paint solvents, varnish removers
    and inks.
  • Relatively slow latent evaporating solvent in lacquers.
  • Small additions to certain paints reduces viscosity, improves brush flow and retards
    the formation of oil residues.
  • Improves flow and gloss of nitrocellulose lacquers.
  • Suitable solvent for acid-curable lacquers and baking finishes derived from urea.
