Iso-Butanol
Iso-Butanol (Iso-Butyl Alcohol), also known as 2-Methyl-1-Propanol is a colourless, flammable, organic compound with a characteristic sweet, musty smell that is used as a raw material in agchem formulations.
Features:
- Medium volatility.
- Miscible with organic solvents such as glycols, ketones, alcohols, aldehydes, ethers and aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons.
- Limited miscibility with water.
- Hydroxyl functionality.
- Applications include use in floor polish formulations, paint solvents, varnish removers
and inks. - Relatively slow latent evaporating solvent in lacquers.
- Small additions to certain paints reduces viscosity, improves brush flow and retards
the formation of oil residues. - Improves flow and gloss of nitrocellulose lacquers.
- Suitable solvent for acid-curable lacquers and baking finishes derived from urea.
