Diggers gets a facelift…

Australia’s iconic Diggers brand is celebrating its 65th anniversary.

From humble beginnings in 1945 when returned WWII digger, George Farnsworth, began delivering hand filled bottles of turpentine on his bicycle, the Diggers brand has become an Australian favourite.

Diggers is now the biggest selling consumer solvents brand in Australia and used nation-wide by tradespeople, householders and DIY enthusiasts alike.

Recochem National Marketing Manager, Mr Chris Mayo said to mark its anniversary, Diggers was launching a range of new look labelling, featuring handy ‘how to use’ guides.

“The how-to-use guides are a quick and easy reference that will help our customers understand the broad range of applications Diggers products can be used for.

“The new contemporary design on the use of products helps consumers to make an easier and more informed choices at the point-of-purchase.

“We want people to see at a glance how they can get the best out of our products.

“In line with this, we felt it was fitting to modernise our look and make our products even more versatile and consumer friendly.

Mr Mayo said the new look labelling had generated positive feedback from retailers.

“Our success is built on the fact that we offer reliable, easy to use, quality products,” he said.

“Our new labelling reinforces this commitment and is an important step in driving continued growth for the Diggers brand.

“Diggers is one of the most respected brands in the hardware industry and we’re very pleased with the response so far.”

The Diggers range now includes more than 300 products including solvents, thinners, timber care, acids and caustics, adhesives and additives, cleaners and sanitisers, oxides, powders, sealants and thinners.

Mr Mayo said the Diggers brand had come a long way since 1945.

“In the early days, George Farnsworth would fill any container he could find by hand from 44 gallon drums in his home and deliver his products by bicycle,” he said.

“Now Diggers is distributed throughout Australasia and is the market-leading consumer solvents brand.”

The Diggers brand was acquired in 2006 by Recochem who are a market leading blender, distributor and packer of a range of chemical products for the automotive, industrial and consumer markets.
